George Comte

comteWisconsin broadcast pioneer whose radio and television career spanned 40 years, 1935-75, with WTMJ, Milwaukee. In his early years he hosted numerous public affairs and variety programs on WTMJ. From 1950-56 he served in several management capacities at WTMJ and in 1958 he was named general manager of WTMJ broadcast operations. He served as chairman and a director of the National Association of Broadcasters and was Co-Founder and President of the Association on Broadcasting Engineering Standards. In 1976 he received the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association Distinguished Service Award.

George Comte passed away on May 24, 1980.
