Roger LeGrand

legrandRoger LeGrand was a UW-Madison journalism graduate who built a first successful career in broadcast advertising with the Milwaukee firm of Kramer-Crasselt from 1945 to 1961, creating the first Television department in a Wisconsin advertising agency and later rising to the position of Vice President of Radio and Television Advertising. His second successful career, in broadcast management, began in 1961 when he assumed the general membership of Milwaukee’s WITI-TV. With LeGrand’s commitment to news, public affairs and community service WITI became the first Wisconsin television station to deliver broadcast editorials and upon his death in 1973, the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association recognized his commitment with an annual award, “The Roger LeGrand Community Service Award” given to broadcasters for their achievements in serving their local communities. LeGrand gave back to his industry through service on WBA’s Board of Directors and on various Committees including the Education and Federal Legislative Committees. He served as WBA President in 1970.
