William E. Walker

wwalkerA radio pioneer who secured his place in Wisconsin broadcasting history building the first radio stations in Wausau (WSAU-1937), Marinette (WMAM-1939), and Beaver Dam (WBEV-1951). He later added WEAQ, Eau Claire, WISM, Madison and WOSH, Oshkosh to what has since become known as the Mid-West Family Stations. In his early broadcasting days he was the first to provide play-by-play of the Wisconsin Badgers football games and hosted the Noon News on WIBA, Madison, all of which had him known as “Walker the Talker”.

William E. Walker passed away in November, 1962.
