1992 U.S. Senate General Election – Kasten & Feingold

The WBA Foundation sponsored the first in a series of debates between two-term incumbent Bob Kasten, a Republican, and challenger Russ Feingold, a Democratic State Senator. The two met on October 3, 1992, at Vilas Hall on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, where they kicked off what would become a high-profile, closely contested campaign on issues such as crime, government spending, tax reform and health care policy, while trading accusations of negative campaigning. Seventy-six radio and television stations carried the debate live, including all three television network affiliates in Green Bay.
