1998 U.S. Senate General Election – Feingold & Neumann

U.S. Representative Mark Neumann, a Republican, was challenging incumbent U.S. Senator Russ Feingold, a Democrat, when the two met for the final face-to-face debate of their campaign on October 23, 1998, at the studios of WBAY-TV in Green Bay. At the time, the race was virtually tied, and the outcome of this often contentious debate would play a significant role in helping voters make their decisions. During the debate the two candidates traded accusations of unfair campaign practices and disagreed strongly on a number of spending and morality issues.
