2004 U.S. Senate General Election – Feingold & Michels

Incumbent U.S Senator Russ Feingold, a Democrat, was seeking a third term as he faced Republican challenger Tim Michels, a construction executive, in this hard-hitting debate. The two met at Milwaukee Area Technical College on October 1, 2004 for a debate that was carried live on 30 television stations and 33 radio stations in Wisconsin and Minnesota. The views of the two candidates were polar opposites on morality issues such as stem-cell research funding and on national security policies such as the Patriot Act, and both candidates took forceful stands.
