Dave Luczak

For more than four decades, Dave Luczak was the voice Milwaukee woke up to, becoming one of the most trusted and enduring figures in local radio. Arriving in Milwaukee in 1984, Luczak became the first morning host of what would evolve into 96.5 WKLH. Through format changes, ownership transitions, and an ever-changing media landscape, he remained a constant presence, helping build one of the market’s most successful and recognizable morning shows. His style blended humor, music, and local storytelling, creating an authentic connection with listeners that spanned generations.
Luczak’s impact extended far beyond the studio. He served as the longtime host of the Children’s Wisconsin Miracle Marathon, personally leading every radiothon for more than 25 years and helping raise over $30 million for children and families across the region. He also played a central role in annual initiatives such as Christmas Is for Kids, reinforcing radio’s ability to unite a community around service and compassion.
Following his on-air career, Luczak continued his commitment to Children’s Wisconsin as a member of the Foundation Board. A broadcaster defined by heart, credibility, and community service, Dave Luczak’s legacy reaches far beyond the microphone.
