He interviewed the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, James Brown, Dolly Parton, Sophia Loren, Gregory Peck, Dick Clark, Cher and many more. Bill Withers wrote and sang a number of songs in the 1970s including “Ain’t No Sunshine,” “Lean On Me,” and “Just the Two of Us.” He was a three-time Grammy Award winner and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015. I’m not quite sure that he was awake when I called him but he was gracious in accepting my call. You’ll never guess what his occupation was before he became a singer.
