Bob Barry’s Unearthed Interviews Podcast: Tony Butala

There are some voices that never grow old, some songs that never lose their magic, and some performers who leave a lasting impression on our hearts.

Today, we remember one of those special entertainers, Tony Butala, the legendary voice behind the Lettermen, who passed away Nov. 1.

For generations, Tony and the Lettermen gave us unforgettable romantic harmonies with hits like “The Way You Look Tonight,” “When I Fall in Love,” and “Goin’ Out of My Head/Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.”

Their music was the soundtrack to first dates, first dances, and first loves. And for many of us, those harmonies still bring back wonderful memories.

I had the pleasure of interviewing tony some time ago, and today, in his memory, I’d like to share that conversation with you once again. As you will hear, he fondly remembered the WOKY Pops Festival at County Stadium.
